We are very proud of the updates and additions we have made to this department. In March 2004 our new Imaging Suite was opened to the public.
New technology has arrived to provide better quality imaging services in Susquehanna County.
Through federal and state funded grants, and EMMCF donations, EMHS has completed the relocation and remodeling of the Radiology Department. Imaging Services are now provided by a new state-of-the-art Picture Archived Computer System. The PACS provides digital computerized images for quicker imaging results to the physician.
Images taken at bedside, in the operating room or in radiology rooms move within seconds digitally to viewing units where they can be manipulated to best reveal the soft and hard tissue features. Surpassing conventional radiology you can enlarge, and manipulate the image for optimal visualization. Images then proceed through the PACS for computer storage.
Previous department improvements:
The addition of a spiral CT (CAT scanner) eliminated the transportation or referral of patients to other facilities for this very important service.
A teleradiology system was installed in conjunction with our radiology staff to provide emergency readings 24/7.
A Bone Densitometer is available onsite to aid physicians in the early detection of Osteoporosis. This has been a very important addition to our health maintenance, prevention studies.
Services provided in the Imaging Suite include:
Radiology, CT Scan, Ultrasound, Bone Density, Mammography
