Laparoscopic Surgery
"A less-invasive surgery, with quicker recovery time. Small incisions are made to insert short narrow tubes (trochars) through which long narrow instruments are inserted. Through one of the small incisions a tube is inserted and a tiny video camera passes through the tube. Carbon dioxide gas may be injected to enlarge the area making more space to work and allowing easier viewing. The laparoscope that is inserted is used to manipulate, cut and sew or staple tissue."
